A: It is best to attach the mic at least a handspan distance from the mouth, for a clear natural sound.  So the lapel of your shirt is best. If wearing a jacket or shirt, clip it to the edge of a suitable piece of clothing, avoiding a position where other clothes may rub against the mic.
